Although the Jigsaw Killer is long dead, his influence lives on through Detective Hoffman, who has been secretly pushing the blood agenda since Saw III (2006). While the authorities have mistakenly branded the late Agent Peter Strahm as Jigsaw's apprentice, Hoffman fears that his evildoings will soon come to light after the events of Saw V (2008). In the meantime, Jill, the killer's widow, receives a mysterious package and sets out to uncover the truth. However, as ruthless health insurance executive William learns the hard way how to appreciate life through a series of merciless tests, Hoffman's colleagues begin to suspect foul play.
