Plot
Storyline
An English sea captain becomes a samurai in 17th-century Japan.
Based on the experiences of Sir William Adams, an English sea Captain and adventurer, whose adventures in late sixteenth century Japan are paralleled by James Clavell's story in this classic book of the same name. Here we follow Pilot-Major John Blackthorne (Richard Chamberlain), an English ship pilot, whose vessel wrecked upon the Japanese coast in the early seventeenth century, and is thrown in the midst of a war between Lord Yoshi Toranaga (Toshiro Mifune) and Ishido (Nobuo Kaneko), Japan's two most powerful warlords, in an epic battle for the title of "Shogun".
