It's December 23rd. Rita will soon be heading home to Santa Fe to spend Christmas with her family, while Shane, who has long not celebrated Christmas, is heading off to a spa in Tucson for some warmth. Jordan Marley has been brought in as a trouble shooter to ensure the letters to Santa campaign is a success, meaning every letter addressed to Santa is answered meaningfully, which has been achieved. There is one last letter he brings to the team this day, not addressed to Santa, but rather to God from an adolescent girl named Hannah from Wyoming who wants her ill mother in hospital to get well so that she can watch her perform as a shepherd on Christmas Eve. Such letters Shane has issues with in no longer believing in a God and not being able to perform miracles often asked for from a God. While the team is able to track down Hannah and her father and ill mother at Denver Mercy Hospital, they do what they can as humans to fulfill parts of Hannah's request, namely that she perform in a nativity play hopefully for her mother to see. Jordan, who seems to be competing with Oliver for Shane's affections, has a special mission for Oliver: to hand deliver a response Jordan himself crafted to another letter written to God asking for the return of her father for Christmas. In getting sidetracked in the delivery, Oliver will discover there is more to Jordan than what appears on the surface.
