The Alarm - Nuclear Valdez unplugged

Vittoria, Jim and Francesco are friends as well as co-workers, and passively live their daily lives dictated by an empty routine that mainly consists of performing their duties in an alienating and discriminatory workplace. The only diversions they manage to indulge in are short and occasional virtual vacations at the Dream Sol Holidays agency, a place where trough some AI viewer, it is possible to travel anywhere. Through the more and more frequent use of this artificial intelligence, they become the protagonists of carefree moments within pristine scenery, experiencing the illusion of distancing themselves sharply from the reality around them while virtually visiting unique and idyllic places within the Venetian lagoon. Given the real intangibility of these experiences, the guys feel free to assume an increasingly dismissive attitude during their temporary trips, and a little at a time, they come to break the rules for proper behavior by detaching themselves from the care and respect for the natural environment that hosts them. Victoria is the only one of them who starts becoming terrifyingly aware of how wrong is the carelessness with which Jim and Francesco express themselves and act, and how those instinctive gestures - apparently harmless as they are virtual - can instead condition even the simplest behavior in everyday life. Unfortunately, the girl's concerns do not seem to elicit any reaction from the two friends, making the line between the real and virtual worlds increasingly blurred...
