Plot
Storyline
On receiving a letter from her mother, a quiet working-class girl leaves the state orphanage in Budapest where she grew up and takes a trip to the rural countryside to visit her.
Erzsi, a young woman has grown up in state care and now works in a factory. Feeling rootless and emotionally isolated, she sets out to find her mother, whom she has never known. Her search leads her through a series of fleeting encounters and unstable relationships, including a tentative romance that offers the promise of belonging but ultimately fails to provide security. As Erzsi moves between workplaces, living arrangements, and emotional attachments, she confronts the painful reality that neither family nor love can easily fill the void left by her childhood abandonment.
