When the scientist Thomas Harbor proves the existence of afterlife, there is a massive wave of suicides on Earth. On the second anniversary of his discovery, his estranged son Will travels on a ferry to the island where his father lives. He meets Isla, a troubled woman that lost her five-year son, and they have a conversation; then they say goodbye to each other on the arrival. Will's brother Tobydrives him to Thomas's real estate, indeed a colony for troubled people that attempted to suicide.
