The United States, 2017. Five years before The Purge (2013), America is at a crossroads. To reduce crime rates, the NFFA party proposes to put a daring sociological theory to the test: for a single 12-hour period each year, all acts of violence will go unpunished. Supporters argue that, by offering the frustrated population an outlet for its pent-up aggression, this "Purge" night would dramatically decrease the prison population and associated costs, thereby strengthening the economy. As part of a pilot program, the party intends to conduct the first trial in Staten Island, New York, offering residents $5,000 to participate. Instead, the initiative is hanging by a thread; what started as a contained experiment quickly spiralled out of control. But what if the New Founding Fathers of America plan to establish a new tradition and turn this lawless night into an annual campaign of terror?
