Plot Storyline
A hyper-vigilant employee of the department of public safety, while training his young female replacement, has to track down a missing girl who he is convinced is connected to a paroled sex offender he is investigating.
Errol Babbage is three weeks away from his forced retirement, his work conducting checks on registered sex offenders for the Department of Public Safety in New Mexico. In reality, he is being ceremoniously fired in making what is a bureaucratic job into one of pseudo-enforcement, which is the job of the police. In these three weeks, he is to train his replacement, Allison Lowry, a neophyte to this job or anything like it. Beyond the checks on his regulars, they, on his initiative, become involved in the case of missing seventeen year old Harriet Wells who may or may not have been abducted. Errol comes into circumstantial evidence that one of "his", which unknown to him, is involved in her disappearance in taunting him with that evidence. In the process of working with Errol on their regular checks and on Harriet's disappearance, Allison will either learn that she doesn't have the stomach for the unsavory details of the work or move closer toward Errol's way of looking at the work all in an effort to protect the innocent.
