Plot Storyline
Dr. Richard Kimble, unjustly accused of murdering his wife, must find the real killer while being the target of a nationwide manhunt led by a seasoned U.S. Marshal.
Well liked, respected, and generally considered an extremely bright man, Dr. Richard Kimble, a vascular surgeon based out of Chicago Memorial Hospital, returns home one evening following a fundraising dinner to find his wife, Helen Kimble, having been violently beaten by an intruder, a man with a prosthetic right arm, who was able to abscond after the two scuffled. Helen ended up dying in his arms. Despite professing his innocence, Richard is charged and convicted of her murder, evidence against him including her dying 911 call in which she utters his name and the phrase, "trying to kill me," in the same breath. Because of the nature of her murder, Richard is sentenced to death. However, in a chance opportunity, Richard is able to escape custody and has a few hour head start in the authorities not even certain if he did escape. The manhunt for him is led by the US Marshall service headed by Deputy Samuel Gerard. What Gerard and his team may not be aware is that Richard is not just trying to escape, but to find the one-armed man and thus the reason for Helen's murder which means Richard working his way back to and not away from Chicago.
