With Charlie Grimille's found footage now a viral internet sensation after the spooky events in The Gallows (2015), the aspiring thespian, Auna Rue, transfers to a new performing arts school, and moves in her stepsister Lisa's apartment. While struggling to make a name for herself, Auna comes across the infamous "Charlie Challenge", and bent on boosting the views on her YouTube channel, she decides to recite passages from the cursed play. Now, a sinister supernatural force seems to be at work, and the noose around the unsuspecting ones who dare to accept the challenge tightens, more and more. Has the evil faceless hangman returned to pick up where he left off?
