Rome in the 1970s: Clara (Penelope Cruz) and Felice Borghetti (Vincenzo Amato) move with their three children into an apartment in a newly built apartment block. But the latest comforts and the beautiful view cannot hide the fact that the family idyll is clouded. Clara and Felice have little to say to each other and live side by side without love; he betrays her and is violent. But a separation seems impossible, the social rules are too rigid.
