Philippa doesn't have it easy: she is constantly overlooked in her agency job, her sons are slowly going their own ways, and she is in the middle of divorcing John, with whom she actually gets along quite well. After going to the theater, she develops a fascination for King Richard III and sets herself the goal of finding his remains, which have been lost for more than 500 years. She refuses to believe that the controversial monarch was really the despicable monster Shakespeare portrayed him to be. Her search is the starting point for an adventurous journey in which the unassuming Philippa follows her intuition against great resistance and takes on respected historians to tell the world the true story of Richard III. She turns to the University of Leicester for archaeological support, but the ideas and intuition of an amateur are not taken seriously there. Only with the support of the Richard III Society does she finally come closer to her goal of paying last respects to the forgotten monarch and finally answering a long-unresolved historical question.
