The Hong Kong police inspector Eddie Yang co-operates with Interpol in an attempt to track down and arrest the crime lord named AJ "Snakehead" Staul. Meanwhile, Snakehead is attempting to locate the two halves of a legendary medallion. He decides to kidnap the boy Jai, who is supposedly destined to bind the two halves together. In Hong Kong, Snakehead twice eludes police raids. Sometime later, Snakehead has moved to Dublin, Ireland. Eddie follows him there, teaming up with his British girlfriend Nicole James. She is an Interpol agent. In the subsequent battle, Eddie rescues Jai's life but he drowns in nearby waters. Jai uses the medallion to resurrect Eddie in a new body, granted him superhuman strength and immortality in the process. Shortly later, Jai repeats the process with Snakehead. Due to only having half the medallion, Snakehead gains superhuman strength but remains mortal. The stage is set for a confrontation between the two super-humans.
