In a Cheyenne Reservation, Danielle "Dani" Moonstar is the only survivor of a tornado. She wakes up at a facility administrated by Dr. Cecilia Reyes, who explains to Dani that the place is intended to keep them safe and capable to control their powers. She is introduced to the amicable Rahne Sinclair; who is capable to turn into a wolf; to the obnoxious Illyana Rasputin, who is a killer capable of teletransportation; Sam Guthrie, who has high-speed; and Roberto da Costa, who is capable to overheat. However, the power of Dani has not been manifested yet. She learns that the facility is enclosed in a dome created by Dr. Reyes that they cannot cross.
