Mister Magoo, who is oblivious to the fact of being extremely nearsighted, is heading to Hodge Podge Lodge, a ski resort, accompanied by his banjo-playing nephew Waldo. After Waldo falls off a cliff, a bear who was enthralled with the banjo music retrieves the banjo and learns how to play. Unable to see clearly, Mister Magoo believes that he banjo player is his nephew. Mister Magoo's mission is to get his nephew to stop the infernal banjo playing, or else to do whatever is required to get the banjo away from him, plus learn the reason that his nephew refuses to take off his heavy fur coat. The bear's mission is to keep playing the banjo, or retrieve it from Mister Magoo whenever he has it by doing whatever is required. And Waldo's mission is to climb up from the depths of the ravine to take his rightful place next to his uncle on this ski vacation.
