With the Blue Moon Festival just around the corner, the Smurfs prepare to celebrate the exciting event in their well-hidden mushroom village. However, when evil wizard Gargamel and his loyal cat Azrael gate-crash the party, a magical water portal whisks the Smurfs off to a strange new land: New York City's Central Park. As wise Papa Smurf and his co-travellers--Smurfette, Clumsy, Brainy, Gutsy, and Grouchy--seek shelter in the apartment of compassionate Patrick and Grace Winslow, the tiny blue creatures must race against time to figure out a way to return home.
