Jenny Davin is waiting to start her career as a doctor in a private clinic. In the meantime, she works as a locum in a GP practice in a socially precarious district of the city of Seraing in Belgium. One evening, when the practice has long since closed, the doorbell rings. Jenny is in the middle of an intense conversation with her intern. She forbids him to open the door - you have to be able to set boundaries. Besides, the person would have rung again if it really was an emergency. The next day, a body is found near the practice. The young woman died of a head injury. Injuries to her wrists indicate that she had put up a fight. Murder cannot be ruled out. The surveillance camera footage shows that the victim is the person who rang the practice doorbell the previous evening. The young woman has no identification papers on her and it is not possible to identify her. Jenny feels partly responsible for her death. If she had opened the door, she might still be alive. Jenny begins her own investigation to find out the identity of the victim. She realizes from young Bryan's reaction that he knows something, but he refuses to talk about it. Jenny continues her investigation and is forced to confront her world view.
