He goes to the Devilwood Flower Garden himself and asks Wu Sheng to hand over the Soul Echo Flute. Wu Sheng refuses and they prepare to battle, but Gui Niao diffuses the situation and asks Wu Sheng the favor of becoming the performer of the Soul Echo Flute; in exchange, Gui Niao propositions Wu Sheng his head once they have reached the summit of the Demon Spine Mountains.
