J.J. McQuade (Chuck Norris) exists as a spectral force in the El Paso badlands, preferring the isolation of his desert shack to the structure of the Texas Rangers. When a massive arms trafficking operation threatens his estranged daughter, the conflict transforms from a professional inconvenience into a visceral, private war. His forced partnership with the eager Kayo Ramos (Robert Beltran) creates a volatile friction, further complicated by his complicated attraction to Lola Richardson (Barbara Carrera), the primary consort of his adversary, Rawley Wilkes (David Carradine). As the smuggling syndicate's violence bleeds into his personal life, McQuade discards departmental procedure, descending into an increasingly scorched-earth campaign to reclaim his agency and destroy Wilkes.
