Private detective Francois Maneri investigates the case of missing student Rachel Siprien. As the young woman has been missing for six months, the police have already given up on the case. Francois agrees to devote a week to the search on behalf of Rachel's mother, but no more. Interviews with Rachel's stepfather, neighbors and ex-boyfriend paint a picture of a mysterious and unpredictable young woman. She apparently oscillated between two worlds: that of her wealthy parents' home and the seedy milieu of a swingers' club. Francois soon finds himself entangled in a web of dangerous acquaintances, including his married lover. The discovery of Rachel's body raises new questions, and Francois is faced with a choice: give up or continue investigating... A key figure could be Rachel's best friend Clarisse, with whom Francois enters into a sexual relationship.
