Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion

Bud Jones and Lou Hotchkiss are wrestling promoters. When their star, Abdullah, is scripted to lose a match, he quits and returns home to Algeria. The promoters' financiers, a syndicate that has lent them $5,000 to bring Abdullah to the States, are now requiring them to return the money or face the consequences. They claim he is worth $100,000 to them. Bud and Lou follow Abdullah to Algiers in hopes of bringing him back. Lou gets them in hot water waving to a sheikh during a slave girl auction such that they have to join a Foreign Legion squad marching through the city. Once in the fort, the traitorous Sgt. Axmann dupes them into signing up for a 5-year stint as Legionnaires. During this time, he hopes to get rid of them so that he can continue to accept payments from Sheikh Hamud El Khalid to throw roadblocks against building railroads across lands that he has traditionally controlled. Bud and Lou somehow miraculously thwart his every attempt. They join forces with Nicole Dupre, an attractive French intelligence agent.
