The Sparrow

In a small town in Upper Egypt, a young and idealistic police officer named Youssef begins investigating the murder of a local man. What starts as a routine case slowly uncovers a web of corruption involving black-market profiteers who are stealing and hoarding goods meant for the public - including supplies intended for the military. As Youssef digs deeper, he realizes that powerful officials are protecting those responsible, and his investigation becomes increasingly dangerous. At the same time, in Cairo, we follow ordinary Egyptians going about their daily lives - factory workers, journalists, and families - all struggling with shortages, rising prices, and political uncertainty. Among them is a young woman whose patriotic faith in the nation is shaken as news spreads of military defeat. As the June 1967 war erupts and Egypt suffers a crushing loss, the personal stories converge into a larger realization: the defeat was not only military but moral, rooted in internal corruption and betrayal.
