Storyline
An exploration of the working conditions of female and male immigrants in France.
Ali in Wonderland bursts the condition of workers and workers in Paris and surroundings in the 1970s. It is a cry of anger against exploitation and racism, lifting without concessions the role of the French state, the media, capitalism and colonization, in this system of domination that crushes those who undergo it. In this experimental essay on the condition of Algerian migrants in Giscardian France in the mid -1970s, any aesthetic choice has a precise and readable political motivation and gives a body and voice to a figure completely absent from the experimental cinema of the time: that of the immigrant worker. Abouda is one of the children of immigrants that we see in the film, and not a simple activist in the service of a cause, that is why the emotion of her experimental gesture, which she throws in the figure of the spectator, springs from a ferocity inscribed in her body, of an insatiable anger who lives in her gaze.
