Autumn in the City

On the two month eve of her thirtieth birthday, Piper Grant leaves her hometown of Omaha to move to New York City to find herself, much to the dismay of her parents who saw her future in the family business where she worked. She has given herself until her birthday in only having a two month sublet, after which if she hasn't found that life that she would head back to Omaha. Having no idea what that perfect career will be, Piper is using the services of temp agency which she has asked to throw anything and everything at her in terms of jobs, as she will know in her gut when there is one with which she has a perfect fit. In the process, she meets her next door neighbor, Austin Edwards, who is facing his own career challenges. With a journalism degree under his belt, he is pressured by his mother, famed journalist Patricia Edwards, to place greater effort in getting work as such. While she is supportive of others trying to find their perfect careers, she is myopic when it comes to Austin, whose news that he is working on a children's book falls on her deaf ears. While supportive of Piper in encouraging her to pursue what she has has shown interest in previously, Austin finds her scattergun approach somewhat futile. And she in turn wants Austin to be more assertive both with his mother and getting his material to publishers in what she sees as his neverending quest for perfection. The question becomes whether their burgeoning romance could survive if their respective dreams are not realized or worse if they become incompatible with the other.
