Plot
Storyline
Five years since the murder of George Floyd - the police killing that set America on fire with rage and sparked a wave of protests around the world, the film explores one of the most important and defining events in modern history.
Derek Chauvin, a European-American Minneapolis police officer, was convicted of murdering George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for over nine minutes during an arrest on May 25, 2020, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Chauvin received a state sentence of 22.5 years for second-degree murder and a separate federal sentence of 21 years for violating Floyd's civil rights. Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in April 2021. He was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison by the state.
