Plot
Storyline
The story of the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of the world's first smartphone.
It's 1996: Mike Lazaridis and his best friend and business partner Douglas Fregin develop the world's first smartphone. The two are technically brilliant, but when it comes to business, they're complete novices. They struggle to keep their company, "Research in Motion," afloat. Everything changes when they meet the savvy entrepreneur Jim Balsillie, who brings the necessary capital and expertise to open up a market for this world-changing invention. Seemingly overnight, the three men revolutionize the way people work, communicate, and connect. Whether in politics, business, or among celebrities: the BlackBerry is now indispensable, and the company's value skyrockets. But soon, their success is threatened by another invention.
