Plot
Storyline
Delhi is constantly spreading through the urbanization of villages and the surrounding forests, shopping centers are replacing agricultural fields, and the life the local community is familiar with is disappearing.
BTC is a satirical account of the rapid urbanization that is transforming peri-urban Delhi as the city expands into the rural heartlands that once provided sustenance for the urban center. A cultural anthropologist follows members of a pastoralist caste-community as they adjust to a sudden increase in incomes from urbanization in their village. The charismatic main character of the film explains the disturbances this has produced in the norms and values in their community. The elder members of the community provide a historical perspective of the change that is transforming their village through vivid accounts implicating the Indian state and global capitalism. BTC focuses on the comic queerness of 'development' as experienced by this community in a moment where peri-urban castes in India have become the sole focus of othering narratives in mainstream media portrayals.
