Captive of the Desert

A French woman named Nicole who is held hostage by a group of rebels somewhere in the vast Sahara desert. Isolated and stripped of any control over her fate, she endures long periods of silence, uncertainty, and psychological strain. Rather than focusing on action or conventional narrative tension, the story unfolds through her daily existence in captivity: walking under the scorching sun, waiting without clear answers, and interacting sparsely with her captors. Communication is limited, and the cultural and linguistic gap deepens her sense of alienation. The desert itself becomes a central presence-immense, indifferent, and almost abstract-reflecting her internal state of disorientation and endurance. The film explores themes of solitude, powerlessness, and the passage of time, offering a meditative portrayal of captivity rather than a dramatic escape story.
