In the events after World War II, Hugh Valentine, now struggling with PTSD, returns to his wife Hilary who has now fallen out of love with him after much persuasion from her newly acquainted friend, Heather. Through a ploy to cash in Hugh's lump sum payments from the war, the two women set the scene for a night of death, exposure and madness.
