Plot Storyline

After the failed 1848 revolution, a discharged and depressed hussar officer returns home to a family serving the Austrian empire. His apathy is shattered by the arrival of a mysterious colonel plotting a new underground resistance.

In 1849 the Hungarian revolution is beaten down by the Russian Army. Ferenc Majlath, who was an officer in the army of the revolution, has to choose between imprisonment or getting enlisted in the Austrian army. He chooses enlisting but this decision is weighing on his conscience.
