Plot Storyline

Two married anthropologists go to an island off of Papua New Guinea for field research.

Evelyn is an Australian anthropologist and she and her husband Dr. Phillip Spence are sent to the Trobriand Islands in the Papua Territory. Evelyn's misadventures are in the foreground of this exploration of racism, colonialism and voyeurism set during the Second World War.
