A little man in his apartment is disturbed by a fly buzzing about. He tries to swat it, and fails. By the end of this short subject, he's destroyed most of a neighborhood.This sort of comedy of destruction would grow elaborate and lengthen over the course of the next few years, particularly in Italy, where houses would be destroyed for the amusement of the cinema audiences. In the US, the matter would peak with some of Buster Keaton's comedies, in which a house would be wrecked by a railroad, or fall on top of him.Here, though, it's still in its inchoate form a man, a fly, and an endless quest to rid the world of pests. What nobler goal could there be?
