Murder in Charente

At the age of 70, Duchess Louise de Cremier remarried Cyril Le Goff, a sophrologist who was only 38 years old. Her daughter Estelle de Cremier, convinced that her mother was the victim of abuse of weakness, hired private detective Lucien Labeguerri, a former police officer. Cyril was murdered by a blow. The gendarmerie captain Maud Artuis begins her investigation and notices the presence of the private detective, whom she brings into her investigation. They interview suspects including the mayor Georges Decourcelles. Soon Louise is found dead. The investigators come to realize that when Georges's unrequited love for Louise was rejected, he murdered Cyril out of jealousy. Georges's wife Madeleine Decourcelles accused Louise of seducing her husband. In a fight Madeleine pushed Louise, causing her to fall and die. Before the investigators make an arrest, Madeleine shoots Georges for never loving her.
