Line of Duty

Frank Penny's (Aaron Eckhart) career as a police officer has been on the rocks since a dramatic shootout in which a child was killed. When he defies his boss's orders to stay out of an ongoing pursuit and shoots a suspect in self-defense, he is suspended once and for all. The dead man is considered the prime suspect and the only lead in a kidnapping case. It gets worse. The kidnapping victim is the young daughter of Police Vice Captain Tom Volk (Giancarlo Esposito). Volk now holds Penny personally responsible for endangering the life of his missing daughter. But the headstrong police officer wants to make amends for his mistake and continues to investigate on his own. Because Penny knows that they only have 64 minutes left before the girl is to be killed. From now on, Penny has to fend for himself and unexpectedly gets company from an ambitious young online reporter who is interested in the case. Ava Brooks (Courtney Eaton) senses the chance of a lifetime and follows the cop with her camera, broadcasting a live stream. Reluctantly, Penny comes to terms with the young woman, who offers him her help. Through her followers, Ava is able to provide new information on a regular basis. But time is running out. The two join forces to try to locate the girl. And they make a surprising discovery. The dead kidnapper had a brother who could lead Penny to the missing girl. But he wants only one thing: revenge for his brother. And Penny is only too happy to play the decoy.
