Plot Storyline

16-year-old Tobi has just lost her father, with whom she lived. She finds her mother's address in his papers and builds up a fantasy of what her mother, Ellen Blake, must be like. But when she goes to see her, she finds out that her mother is a high-priced call girl.

After her father's death, a Midwestern teenage girl travels to San Francisco to look up the mother, Ellen Blake, she never knew and then camps on her doorstep, only to discover that Miss Blake is a high-priced call girl who is both unable and unwilling to alter her lucrative lifestyle to become a regular mother.
