Nadia et Sarra

Nadia, 47, teaches literature at a high school in Tunis. Her husband, Hedi, is frequently away for work and has grown distant. Her daughter, Sarra, 18, is at an age where she no longer opens up to her. While grading papers, Nadia is seized by hot flashes and heart palpitations-early signs of menopause. Shaken by these changes, she begins to eat compulsively and slowly slips into depression. Refusing the medication prescribed by her gynecologist, she starts showing up at school less and less, buys provocative clothes, despises her growing body, and envies that of younger women-especially her daughter's.
