Night Drive

One rainy Saturday night, I was tucked up in bed, eager for any sort of thrill to come into my life. Suddenly - I receive a text from my dear friend Fynn Roberts and he sends me a link to his latest horror film "Night Drive". This was filmed during (at the time) the peak of COVID in the area and I am impressed with the level of quality. The cast are fluent in their characters, and I was surprised to find out they are all in the family of the director. Night Drive juxtaposes the traditional narrative of horror films, replacing the young damsel in distress with an old damsel in distress as she is chased down a Croydon road in her car.You feel connected to the protagonist, you can feel her fear and you just want to jump in and save her. The tension breaks as we meet the antagonist and we are left with a devastating yet thrilling ending. The tone is illustrated perfectly within its cinematography - tied together with go-pros, taking the perspective of the car heading into straight oblivion.This is cinema.
