People Hold On

It's the ninth annual gathering of late twenty-something friends Alycia, Dan, Freddy, Julia, Matthew, and Robin at Freddy's family's cottage, they who have known each other since high school. Freddy has always had an unrequited crush on who has turned out to be insecure Alycia, Matthew and Julia, long broken up high school sweethearts, have managed to remain friends, and Dan and Robin have finally settled into being able to be friends after she turned down his marriage proposal two years ago. Known to the group, Julia is bringing her fiance Darren, he being a few years older as an early thirty-something providing him with a different perspective than the rest. They will be leaving the gathering early as they head back to the city to have a family engagement event. Conversely, one surprise attendee at the other end of the age spectrum is Dan's current girlfriend, nineteen year old Marley, the two who, in their short time dating, have no idea if this relationship is their forever match. Having known each other for such a long time, the six have grown emotionally at different rates as each has a different perspective of what is important in their lives now, these schisms highlighting the issues in their friendships.
