While mental health has been designated a national priority for 2025, young people's distress has never been so profound. Today in France, one in five young people suffer from severe depressive symptoms, and the number of minors attending psychiatric emergency rooms has tripled in the last five years. Despite the political goodwill on display, child psychiatry is nevertheless faced with a staggering lack of resources. Endless waiting times for treatment are causing an explosion in the prescription of psychotropic drugs to young people who are deprived of the listening ear they so desperately need.
