Melli had withheld the rent because of mould in the flat. Instead of a remedy, she was given notice to quit without notice. Melli and her nine-year-old son Ben are suddenly homeless, because finding an affordable flat quickly turns out to be impossible. So the two move into the forest with their tent and suitcase and build a makeshift camp far off the beaten track so that no one can discover them. Ben actually finds life in the forest quite exciting and adventurous, but Melli does everything she can to find a place to live again as soon as possible. Living under these extreme conditions brings the two of them even closer together, because no one is allowed to know about their homelessness, Melli inculcates this into her son again and again. She is very worried that the boy will be taken away from her. Day after day and with incredible energy, Melli works to find a way out of her misery. She has hope that her situation will soon improve, because she has successfully completed training as a flight attendant and can start her new job in a few days. But when the search for a flat becomes hopeless and humiliating for her, when the Youth Welfare Office is breathing down her neck and her employer puts additional pressure on her, Melli is hopelessly overwhelmed. What she tried to prevent with all her might, she can no longer stop: For the sake of her child, she has to make a serious decision .
