The Ogre

With New Year's Eve just around the corner in mid-1950s Athens, Thomas, an insignificant bank clerk, is shocked to discover that he bears a striking resemblance to the notorious deviant who has been terrorising the city. For fear of rotting behind bars, the meek recluse tries to lie low at a disreputable cabaret in the seedy underbelly of Piraeus--the smoke-filled haven of vicious cut-throats and perfidious divas. Innocent performer Roula also calls this place home. There, dazzled by his infamy, a violent gang of unscrupulous thieves welcomes Thomas as their leader, unaware that their unexpected saviour is a fake. But the more Thomas' distorted image makes the headlines and earns him ample respect in the criminal underworld, the more the boundaries between reality and illusion become unclear. At last, Mr Nobody is somebody now. Still, can Thomas' grotesque new persona banish a lifetime of fear?
