Plot Storyline

This film deals with a Jewish family in Montreal, Canada as they care for a dying grandmother and the young boy who is impatient to get the room he was promised as soon as she kicks the bucket.

Inspired by the homonymous short story by Montreal author, Mordecai Richler, Caroline Leaf's paint-on-glass animated fable attempts to probe into the diverse emotional reactions of a tightly-knit Jewish family to an ailing and dying grandmother. However, not all members feel the same. Some of them are devastated, some are stoical--while, others--can't wait to see a pending promise fulfilled.
