The Town That Came A-Courtin'

Abby Houston, a successful Atlanta-based novelist, feels blessed about everything in her life, except her love life. A middle-aged divorcee, she is thinking about dropping out of the dating pool because of her unsuccessful love life. She has no interest in Steve Marshall, whom her mama wants to push on her--her high-school beau who recently divorced his wife. Abby is embarking on a promotional tour for her latest bestseller. Against the wants of her publicist Jamie, Abby has decided to make a stop in Bliss, Mississippi to do a book-signing at her friend Susan Marie's bookstore. Upon Abby and Jamie's arrival in Bliss, many of the townsfolk openly express to Abby that she and the town mayor would be a great match. Abby initially brushes off the idea, but she changes her mind when she learns that it's not the older former mayor Phil as she'd thought, but the widowed Spencer Alexander, to whom she was immediately, undeniably attracted, but thought he was married. Spencer is attracted to Abby too. Beyond needing to know if they're compatible, there are other obstacles to their happy ending: Jamie sees most aspects of their courtship as possible photo-ops; and all of Bliss are active spectators, most overcompensating to make sure they get together. Abby and Spencer must also consider the feelings of his two children, Mary Ellen and Kyle Edwards. One of the townwomen, the controlling Lorraine, feels that Spencer is hers, although they only dated briefly several decades ago. Can Abby finally find bliss in Bliss?
