The World's Most Beautiful Girls

When 78 beauties, representing 30 nations, are assembled from the far corners of the globe in order to select the most beautiful girl in the world, the results are bound to be more than spectacular. And so it was with the staging of the 1952 Miss Universe Beauty Contest, held at Long Beach, California, and which is now brought to the screen in Universal-International's Technicolor featurette, "The World's Most Beautiful Girls." Dazzling blondes, striking brunettes, captivating redheads, all chosen as the most beautiful in their respective state or nation, competed for the title of "Miss Universe" and the pageantry and excitement which accompanied the selection of the winner and runners-up, and their subsequent careers as film actresses, are depicted in this colorful featurette. Climaxed by the selection of Armi Kuusela of Finland as "Miss Universe," and Jackie Loughery of New York as "Miss United States," the film also shows scenes of the colorful Miss Universe float parade, close-ups of the girls of various nations in their native costumes, in swimsuits and in formal gowns, at play on the beach and at work before movie studio cameras.
