Plot
Storyline
TOXIC HOT SEAT follows a courageous group of firefighters and mothers, journalists and scientists, politicians and activists as they fight to expose a shadowy campaign of deception that left a toxic legacy in our homes and bodies - a campaign so cunning, it's taken nearly 40 years to unravel.
Check under the cushions of your couch at home. Odds are high you will find the TB117 tag, and you have been sitting in toxins for years. Most Americans assume that harmful chemicals are regulated and that laws require chemical safety testing before use. This assumption is wrong. Toxic Hot Seat investigates why a class of carcinogenic chemicals that were outlawed in childrens' pajamas in the seventies persists in products today. The blame rests on a unique California fire safety standard, which is currently being challenged in California State legislature. This film dramatically portrays the stories of a disparate yet determined group whose outcome in 2012 will have consequences for the entire nation.
