Plot
Storyline
Emilia de Sousa, the great 19th-century Portuguese actress, abandoned her career to marry a rich aristocrat and became the Baroness Magdalene of the Sea. As beautiful as Empress Sissi, she built a mystery that lasted four generations.
On the island of Madeira, the life of the actress Emilia De Sousa is retold through a mosaic of voices, memories, and shifting perspectives. Beautiful, enigmatic, and fiercely independent, she becomes the center of intense passions and destructive relationships. As different narrators attempt to reconstruct her story, the film blurs the line between truth and legend, portraying how a woman's life becomes myth. Adapted from a novel by Agustina Bessa-Luis, the film reflects on love, storytelling, and the power of memory.
