Albert Schuh, a corrupt Viennese police officer, works in the "Burglary and Theft" division. He's anything but in a good mood. His partner, Hintermeier, was shot four months ago, and the killer still hasn't been caught. Schuh has a long-standing feud with Grubmuller, the head of the homicide division, which is why he sets out on his own to find his colleague's killer. Right in the middle of Schuh's private investigation, a young German named Thorsten Richter bursts onto the scene - introduced to him by his boss as his new partner. Schuh is annoyed: Doesn't he have enough problems already? Thorsten, a paragon of propriety and ambition - and thus the exact opposite of the Viennese detective, who is quite open to "gifts" from the criminal underworld - sticks to him like glue, gets in the way of his investigations, criticizes everything he does, and is about as indispensable to Schuh as a hole in the knee. A mysterious break-in at the shop of Russian antique dealer Andropov - during which, however, nothing appears to have been stolen - causes further friction between the two. Thorsten is convinced that something is fishy. Schuh, on the other hand, is just glad to have one less case to worry about. To get rid of him, Schuh pushes Thorsten into what is essentially an unnecessary undercover operation at an adult hot-line, whose offices were recently broken into. Soon, sparks fly between Thorsten and Lucy, the attractive owner of the hot-line. More break-ins follow, and when "Fast Rudi" - a burglar and childhood friend of Schuh's - finds himself in grave danger, Schuh realizes that the incident at the antique dealer's shop means more than previously thought. But who's behind it all? And what role does Rudi play?
